Topic: 1994 Jetta oil pressure beeping!!!

What could possibly be the problem with my oil preassure?
The oil pressure switches have been changed. The mechanic said that
there is nothing wrong with the pressure.
This all started when someone changed my oil. Now every once in a
while the oil pressure signal will sound off after a driving for a
while, usually in rush hour traffic.
Does anyone know what this could be???

MINE DOES THE SAME THING---THE DEALER SAID TO USE ONLY VW OIL FILTERS
AND 20/50 OIL. THAT SHOULD DO THE TRICK

Hey Livia.

We've got a 94 Jetta too, and the oil pressure beeps usually after
driving the car fairly hard... ie. accelerating quickly, high revs,
that sort of thing! It's nothing to worry about!

My jetta does the same thing, and mine also started after the oil was
changed. Heard that you can check the oil pressure sensor and the
high pressure sensor. That is all that I know, if anyone else finds
anything please email me

I too have a 1994 Jetta. Mine has 145,000 miles and it's running
well. The problem with your oil light is that you probably got the
oil changed either at a know-nothing dealership or somewhere else,
and the place you took it did not use 20-W-50 oil (I'm assuming you
have the 2.0 4-cyl). I first took my car to Ancira VW, and they put
the wrong oil type in. I had the light problem. Ancira sucks. I go
to Rod East. Using the recommended oil, I get the best performance,
and no blinking/buzzing oil light. Using other oil types, I get the
buzzing/flashing oil light. You should call your dealership, though,
and make sure that's the best oil for your climate and model. I live
in San Antonio, Texas - rare, minor freezes and temperatures in the
90s and 100s during the summer.

I've also heard that using a non-vw oil filter can cause this
problem, but I'm sure there are at least a few non-vw oil filters
that would work completely fine.
