Topic: price qoute on '56 oval window
I've recently purchased a '56 oval window in excellent condition.
What I'm trying to found out is the value of this after a full
restoration.
Any information about a '64 convertible would be useful as well.

Joe,
First off, congrats on finding a nice car. As far as price goes it
depends on a lot of variables. First, your location, different
areas demand diferent prices. Like up here in upstate NY where bugs
have all but rusted away, if you can find any beetle that runs and
passes inspection it is worth about 2-3 grand, whereas down south or
out west the price would be a lot less for one in the barest of
drivable shape. Secondly is the quality of restoration. Whether or
not NOS or repro parts are used, how much of the car is restoreable
or original, and if repro parts are used, what quality are they.
Basicly the price should run between 6 and 12 grand depending on
these variables. The key to any price is finding someone willing to
pay what you ask, ie: someone looking for a 56bug.
Happy motoring:
Luke
