Topic: Very restorable 70 std., clean title, 700 OBO
This is a very solid 1970 standard. It could, without too much work,
restore into a real nice driver. The rockers are in pretty good
shape (see photos) with some pin holes on the drivers side but still
very sturdy. I gave the running boards a couple of sturdy kicks
before I pulled them off to make sure :-) The passenger side heater
channel is very solid.
The floorpans are new, a local VW mechanic and racer welded them in
for me. The seat tracks were removed as I planned to instal nice
seats out of a Volvo or something (junkyard find). It's a nice solid
job. The car is NOT UNDERCOATED! Thank goodness for that, there is
nothing under there but some paint and a bit of dirt. I included
pictures from under fenders. The rear luggage tray is solid, but
also has some rust and pin-holing. I was planning to POR-15 it and
then lay down a layer of fiberglass over the area.
I was told the transmission is good, but I have not had an engine it
yet so I can't say it is for sure.
The doors are off the car for the pan installation. They are included
with the car, as are the pop-outs pictured in one of the shots. They
are from a 65 and will fit in this car fine. I'll put the doors back
on before you pick it up. I also have the rear decklid from another
car of the same year.
It looks like an early clear-coat was used on the car and someof the
top coating flaked off. There are bubbles of surface rust on places
of the car because of this, but that's nothing a wire brush can't
cure.
The rest of the photos pretty much speak for themselves. All the VIN
numbers match and I have the clear VA title. You will have to come
out and pick it up in Clinton, MD. I would be willing to meet
somebody with it up to maybe 50 miles from here in Clinton. Feel
free to email me with questions or to request pictures. I have a
digital and I'll get them to you by the evening you ask.
I am trying to get rid of this car by this weekend to get the room
back in my garage and concentrate on one of my bus projects. Make me
an offer, any offer.
