to jamesdagg: I like the '63 model year for its traits: first year without a hood ornament, last year for the front turnsignals (peanut), before going to the bigger '64-'69 lights, last year for the smaller rear decklid light, last year for the cloth sunroof, and other little things.

first, a "Zwitter" is a 1953 bug, with split window, and an oval dash. This only lasted until march of '53, when they went to the oval rear window.
second, my call sign is " '63 Ragtop", because a "63 ragtop is my favorite model.

Re: 61 Bug Wiring Help Needed (4 replies, posted in Technical)
you may want to consult the "hanes" repair manual for 1954-1979 beetles. if you can find this book where you are, you can look up the wire diagram in the back. good luck

Re: ticking noise from engine (12 replies, posted in Technical)
what you may be dealing with is a loose header. but if you cant hear it from outside the car, then it may be the valves. my '53 bug has a stock '66 engine, and when I gave it gas, it would do the same thing. then after adjusting the valves, it practicly stopped. check them and see if that will do it. If not, go see your mechanic.
