To our tireless moderators, Thanks guys. There was a lot of spam earlier today and you all got rid of it quickly. I would never, knowingly, buy anything from a company that resorts to spammers to sell their product.

That is coming along very nicely. I am very envious of your talent and skills.

I had a newly aquired '64 bug that a PO had welded the muffler to the heater boxes. I did tell the next owner about that.

Nick,
As Yancy pointed out, I hope that isn't one of those "Oh shit!" moments.
It does look like a very nice build.

Ask MAM who the builder is. I doubt that MAM are the builders. Maybe they have a deal with GEX.

Nick,
Clancy was right. That is a great story.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of Clancy and my prayers go out for his family.
His presence here is certainly missed.

Lonnie,
Welcome to Volkswebbin.
On my '71 ghia and '69 bug both of the shifter shafts, the part that the shift knob attaches to, turn. In earlier bugs and maybe Ghias there was a pin that kept the rod from turning. I think Nick is misunderstanding your question and thinking that you are refering to the shift rod which is in the tunnel.

Welcome back Burr,
I thought maybe you were wandering the salt flats in the middle of summer.

Welcome to Volkswebbin.
Your car should be a '68 from the serial number under the back seat. I have no idea about the number on the engine.

wstorm,
Welcome to volkswebbin.
Your leak/gas smell is likely coming from the fill hoses or where the gas gauge sender goes into the tank, a failing gasket. It could be as simple as loose hose clamps or as bad as cracked hoses. Airhead Parts sells the replacement hoses and gaskets as well as other vendors.
Good luck and let us know what you find out.
