So Herbie comes body kitted now? Steve should sue for infringement... It's good to visit the board again! ![]()

There you go! To see how it's done Darren has instructions under 'Picture posting howto'. Nice pic by the way - I've seen one hearse like that before but it was a silver baywindow. Neat... I know of a hearse club here in NZ (the Dead Sleds) that is probably hunting for one as we speak.

Cool video Brian! You seem to have the multimedia thing sorted. This sure is a way off what was possible on the old Wall...
I was all set up for the Nationals but missed out on a ride at the last minute, so that sucked. Anyhow, I had to pass on the '60 as it was definitely overpriced and had rust and gearbox problems. (It was 40+ years old when someone first learned to drive manual in it - I'm not a longtime driver but I'm sure that isn't good for any car!)
I'm starting to run out of places to look for Bugs- trademe.co.nz has very few ads and most cars are in the South Island, or are totally stuffed - and T&E is not much better. Not many for sale on the streets either... Having spent a few years on the lookout, decent Bugs really do seem to be fewer and dearer; I still love them, but maybe - at least in NZ - they're naturally becoming a treat for the few. *shrug*

Wish I had $US10,000 for what's obviously a great car, but it doesn't look likely... can you maybe stop teasing me and keep this in the classifieds forum? ![]()

Hey Brian, how's it going? Yes I did miss out on that rattly old '69 (at least I haven't heard anything for ages!) but someone up my road is selling a nice 1960 Bug... I'll go have a look and a drive on Sunday. I like this test-driving game!
I have been to your site before & spent a few happy minutes looking around. The RoadRat isn't the prettiest thing ever (at least to me) but it sounds & seems to go great. And the RR Mark 1 looked pretty cool too. By the way, I couldn't see your animated pic above, but that might just have been me...

Sorry Steve, what kind of bracketing do we need to use for the picture to show up on the preview?
Sam F
PS: The Bugarossa still looks neat...
Hi,
Down here in the antipodes (Australia and NZ) all type 2s are usually called Kombis. That's what our registration tags always say. What kind of type 2 is Gumby? (Pickup truck, van etc.) And do you know if it's has an interesting lineage or been widely travelled? This stuff will help more knowledgeable people than me to get you a real answer...
Cheers, Sam F.
Sorry, I do not belong to the "bells and whistles" crowd. I hope it works for the rest of you.
Fred W.
So this means you're going? That'd be a pity..
Obviously I'm not attuned to all the cool bits this new forum has on offer... thanks Darren.

I'd agree on quite a bit of that.. it's not as easy here to spot the very newest thread (or response to a thread) as in the old forum.
Hi all,
A couple of tips:
First off, the new forum software always sorts the messages with the most recent posts to the top of the forum, regardless of when the original thread was posted.
Also, if you're logged in, the forum will highlight messages you havent seen since your last visit by putting an icon that looks like an arrow pointing to a grey square next to the subject line. If you view the message, the icon will be removed.
Finally, if you're logged in, at the top of the main page there is a link that says "View messages since your last visit". If you click this link, it will show you all the messages that have been posted since the last time you logged in. This makes it very easy to see what's been happening on the site.
(Note that there's a bug in that feature in that it's showing some old posts with bad dates. I'll take care of that as soon as I get a chance.)
Have fun,
Darren.
The problem with this new style is that I know that no one will read this message and if I have a question at 10:00AM I wont get an answer the same day while I'm all greasy and still need the advice at 1:00PM. I hope this format works. Good cruisin ya all! Pete
I'd agree on quite a bit of that.. it's not as easy here to spot the very newest thread (or response to a thread) as in the old forum. However that might just be me not being used to the way this place works. Also I miss just being able to file through everything on one panel and pick out posts with the most eyecatching/funny subject lines... just a committed browser talking here!

PS: Isn't it great to see this place taking off again!!
I posted a few messages before this and they didn't go thru. I also got a message saying my user name was allready taken. I eventually exited the site and returned, and it seems to work now. Is there any solution to the annoying problem of having to use the side to side scroll bar? The site looks great !

I created an account, then was surprised when I couldn't post a message under 'samf' - I forgot to log in first. after that it didn't ask me for a name again. Not sure if you're as absent minded as me but that was my problem. At least now we won't have anyone impersonating so easily - remember the Steve Bacon episode a while back? ![]()
Awesome job, Darren. Elegant and functional. I especially like the way the new design echoes the old in a few subtle ways... if this is intentional then kudos to you. Eases my Courier font withdrawal.
Thanks for the archiving, too. But isn't it strange to see the old posts now? If I look really closely, I can just spot myself as a teeny amoeba in the 'fossil record'... I was always happy to be along for the ride on the previous site and I'm sure I'll have as good a time here. Cheers!
