Hey Eddie, I would buy the Bug Me Video that deals with that subject. Here's the link: http://www.bugmevideo.com/ I believe that the chassis on the Beetle is the same chassis used on the Ghia. Anyway, get the video there great.

"shutting down after it warmed up" dosn't sound like a coil problem. I would make sure someone hasn't instaled Helicoils in the spark plug holes. The sharp end on the Helicoil will act like a glow plug and keep the motor running. You must use the sleve type ithread insert and one of the correct length. Any sharp object are carbon in the combustion chamber can cause run on.
Also, if the idling mixture is too rich or the engine is idling too fast will cause run-on.

Shock absorbers have nothing to do with vehicle height. The torsion bars in the rear suspension have weaken over time and need to be adjusted. This is a repair that should be done at a reapable air cooled Volkswagen shop.
Hey Scott, It sounds like you own a Beetle just like mine. I own a 1970 Beetle with a factory sun roof. Good luck with the sun roof repair, it's a real bastered of a project.

You need a filter. Running you car with out one allows dirt and abrasive material into you engine. That could seriously damage your engine.

Hi Members. New guy here. I was wondering if Sciclunam still has an oil bath air cleaner on it. Over the years this part gets pretty clogged up. I cleaned mine (with mineral spirits) and let it dry out completely. After that I put in the required amount of oil and took it for a drive. The improvement was very noticeable.
You could also just replace the oil bath filter with an after one, with a replaceable filter (like the ones that Scat sells).
