Topic: Bignic --you ok? Midland tornado

Wondering if you're ok---I see Walmart to Ideal Supplies to out the Shrine way is a real mess in Midland---hope you weren't out buying spark plugs tonight!
Let us know after you get your power back eh!

Nic lives in a Penetang--right next to a larger town, Midland Ontario, were most business is done.  A tornado went threw Midland tonight---took out it's mandatory mobile home park where and old friend of mine lives and a plastics factory and a hand full of roofs and turned over semi trailers--bit of a mess and thankfully so far no casualties.  This doesn't usually happen in that neck of the woods but it was 25 yrs ago a huge tornado took out a chunk of the nearest city so it does happen--I just never figured I'd see footage of my old stomping grounds thrown all over the place on the news.

Re: Bignic --you ok? Midland tornado

I'm good.  Quite a few people lost homes and businesses though.

My brother's house was quite close to where it touched down, and he didn't even lose electricity.  Quite a bizzare storm considering that I was about 10km away and had no power for a day or two, while most of Midland still seemed to have power during/after the storm.

My brother's Super Beetle and Datsun were being stored outside of a farm, right on highway 93 where it touched down.  Thankfully the massive tree that fell down beside the cars didn't cause any damage!  (bit of a miracle, actually)

The fact that no one died is quite bizzare, considering the extent of the damages.     Earthquakes in the morning, tornados at night.  Whew!  It was a weird day...

I'm happy to hear you and your family came out unscathed!
I just drove through Smith's camp two days ago--pretty incredible!!    Amazing how some of those light(ish) trailers were still standing next to empty spots were trailers used to be.  I was pretty relieved to see my friend's place still there but I was secretly hoping it was gone so she'd get a read house in town.   Some pretty big trees are now just roots pulled from the ground there.   Oh and what is Midland to do without Ideal Supplies hahahha??
Yeah pretty weird day for you guys!!
BTW--I'll be back in town next week for a few weeks so maybe can catch a Timmy's?

Re: Bignic --you ok? Midland tornado

I suppose the prison for the criminally insane was unscathed?

Funny thing about trailer parks and tornado's. We don't have as many of either as our USA friends but they always seem to connect.
