Can anyone tell me what year my engine is? the number stamped below the gen. stand is AK141337.

Hiya Donny,

Yep, Nick's correct!

The AK series of engines was actually a continuation of the AE series.  VW had hit the one million mark in AE production so they had to to switch their engine serial number prefix.  Consequently, AE became AK.  Your number indicates production about 3/4 of the way through the 1973 production year, probably around April of 1973.
