Topic: Brake drums

It's time for a new set of brake drums for my '71 standard. Can
anyone tell me where I can buy 4 German ones? I saw rears in the
real source catalog but they don't say where the front drums are
from. In town is an imported parts shop that has Itallian ones. I
just want to get the best ones the first time around. Thanks.
Scott.

I got German drums from www.WolfsburgWest.com at a very good price,
great service, packaging, etc. One of my favorite suppliers.

I second that! Also just got drums, shoes, spring kits from Wolfsburg
West, great product, fast shipping! I highly recommend them for your
Bug.

Hi Scott,

I would go with the Wolfsburg West advice. I bought all four drums
for my '73 Std from the "Real Source". I tried to find out from the
sales person were the front drums were made (the rears were
advetised as German-made). The guy hemmed and hawed and finally
outright lied to me saying that, yeah the fronts were German too.
They weren't and apparently still aren't; they are Mexican. In
addition, the drums were simply placed in large box with *zero*
packing (save for a catalog) and when they showed up on my doorstep
it was a miracle they were all in one piece. I wrote a letter to the
head cheese at the Real Source about my displeasure over my order,
sent it certified mail, and never got any response back. I will
*never* buy anything from these clowns again....
